Exciting Opportunity: Join the Teaching Intern Program at Williams Valley High School

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Teaching Intern Program at Williams Valley High School, designed to provide our students with valuable classroom and field experiences to explore careers in education.

 

Mission:

The mission of the Teacher Intern Program is to equip high school students with the insights and experiences needed to make informed decisions about careers in education.

 

Program Objectives:

- Examine the responsibilities and professional role of a teacher

- Explore diverse career options in education

- Observe and practice effective teaching techniques

- Understand human growth and development in relation to learning

- Develop leadership, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and self-evaluation skills

- Gain an understanding of school structures, operations, and policies

- Discuss critical issues in education

 

Introduction to Careers in Education:

- Course Title: Introduction to Careers in Education

- Course Description: This course, along with the accompanying Teaching Internship, is available to seniors in good standing, especially those interested in careers in education, teaching, and working with children. The course will cover various units, including Teaching Internship Preparation, Effective Teaching Practices, and Special Education and Inclusion, and offers .25-.50 academic credits based on the length of the course.

- Delivery Format: Hybrid (in-person and online)

- Grading Scale: Pass/Fail

 

Teacher Internship Overview:

Interns will follow school rules for attendance and punctuality, and will receive a PASS/FAIL grade based on their performance. Misconduct may result in failing the program.

 

Guidelines and Rules:

Interns are expected to be respectful, honest, prepared, and appropriately dressed. They should notify their supervising teacher of any absences and must adhere to the school's policies on phone use and confidentiality.

 

We are excited to share that Dr. Hatfield will supervise the program, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching experience for all participants. Additionally, students who successfully complete the program will be eligible to receive credits towards graduation. We are also pleased to announce that WVSD has been awarded a grant to fund the program's implementation, enhancing the opportunities and resources available to our students.
