WVSD Wellness Committee’s Kickstart 2025 with a Focus on Wellness for Staff and Students!

This month-long event is designed to inspire healthy habits, boost morale, and foster a sense of community. Participants earn points by completing daily and weekly activities focusing on physical health, mental well-being, and community engagement.

Challenge Dates: January 2–February 2, 2025

Register: for any time before January 6 using the Wellness Kickstart Form

Prizes: Participants earning at least 150 points by the end of the challenge will be entered into a drawing for prizes like fitness gear, gift cards, or other wellness-focused rewards.

Point System

  • Daily Activities: 5 points each
  • Weekly Activities: 20 points each
  • Bonus Activities: Points vary

Participants will record their activities using the honors system on a weekly Google Form that will be emailed to participants each week. Weekly totals should be submitted every Friday to remain eligible.

Weekly Themes and Activities

Week 1: Healthy Habits Head Start! (Jan 2–5)

Daily Activities:

  • Drink 8 glasses of water: 5 pts
  • Pack or eat a healthy meal/snack: 5 pts
  • Complete 15 minutes of stretching or yoga: 5 pts

Weekly Challenge:

  • Try a new healthy recipe and share it: 20 pts

Week 2: Active Living (Jan 6–12)

Daily Activities:

  • Take 5,000 steps or more: 5 pts
  • Do a 15-minute workout (e.g., walking, dancing, weightlifting): 5 pts
  • Spend 10 minutes outdoors: 5 pts

Weekly Challenge:

  • Involve a friend or family member in at least two of the Daily Activities: 20 pts

Week 3: Mental Wellness (Jan 13–19)

Daily Activities:

  • Journal 3 things you're grateful for: 5 pts
  • Take 10 minutes for mindfulness or meditation: 5 pts
  • Spend 15 minutes on a hobby: 5 pts

Weekly Challenge:

  • Write a thank-you note or compliment to someone: 20 pts

Week 4: Community and Connection (Jan 20–26)

Daily Activities:

  • Smile at 5 people or say hello to someone new: 5 pts
  • Help someone with a task or lend a hand: 5 pts
  • Spend 10 minutes device-free with family/friends: 5 pts

Weekly Challenge:

  • Volunteer or participate in a community event: 20 pts

Week 5: Wellness Wrap-Up (Jan 27–Feb 2)

Daily Activities:

  • Reflect on your wellness goals and set one for February: 5 pts
  • Do 20 minutes of physical activity: 5 pts
  • Share a healthy tip or wellness win with someone: 5 pts

Weekly Challenge:

  • Participate in a group activity (e.g., walk, yoga, or game night): 20 pts

 

Bonus Activities (Optional for Extra Points)

  • Attend a wellness workshop or class (virtual or in-person): 10 pts
  • Share a wellness success story on social media or by emailing [email protected]: 15 pts
  • Organize a group walk or fitness session: 10 pts

Prizes

  • Grand Prize: $100 gift card (e.g., Amazon, local businesses)
  • Second Prize: Wellness gift basket (Sponsored by Capital Blue Cross)
  • Third Prize: WV Spirit Wear bundle
